Photos from the book ‘People of the Twenty-First Century’ by Dutch photographer Hans Eijkelboom

This might be one of the most fascinating pieces of work I have come across. The photographer and artist spent more than 20(1992 to 2013) years capturing street style in Paris, New York and Shanghai,. This book aims to provide a comprehensive and holistic representation of 21st century fashion and people. This is a realistic and democratic view on trends and style. Each outfit is a representation of the paradoxical uniqueness and homogeneity that exists. Along with a certain some chaos there is sense of comfort and simplicity that makes us feel part of something larger yet makes us question our everyday choices, be it as simple as which tank top to wear today.
