This collection by John Galliano was filled with a series of individualistic characters. This collection almost makes me uncomfortable. This collection reimagines little girls dressing up from their mom’s wardrobe; it almost feels like a virtual representation of the pressure of looking older than you are. When translated into 2023’s social media focused youth-obsessed and diluted reality it makes you think even more. While objectively the clothes were decent, I am only writing about this collection the only reason I am writing about this collection is because of my sheer disdain for it. The idea almost fetishizes young girls and indirectly contributes to the unfortunate infantilization of women. There were outfits that looks like cardboard cutouts of colouring books or school craft projects. The collection ended with a few white sheer dresses worn with frumpy diaper-like underwear. Some things just don’t stand the test of time.
