With this collection we were transported back to ancient Egypt; drenched in gold, glam and artifacts. John Galliano has always been known to reference cultures across the globe; he celebrates one of the most revered and visually intriguing civilizations of all time. This collection was one of his earlier works. We can sense his newness and thought process even in a collection that is 25 years old. Models dressed in schoolgirl-inspired mini skirtsuit and performing in front of a massive golden throne all in front of endless flashes from the photographers. While the concept was a bit bizarre that’s just Galliano for you, It almost felt like a parody. That’s just 90s runway for you!

The man has never been conventional that’s why he’s considered one of the best. His ability to subtly blend an entire culture with something contemporary is quite notable(he has also done this during his time at Dior many times). There were pinstripe suits, bias-cut dresses, luxurious fur stoles & sheer kaftan-like gowns (ported beautifully by Shalom Harlow and Debra Shaw). Helena Christensen sported a black look heavily embellished with gold paillettes. The show stopper was definitely Yasmeen Ghauri wearing her lux gold metallic gown with a hand-shaped breastplate and a serpentine neckpiece. A collection that is playful yet regal and endearing yet dramatic!
