This collection lives rent-free in my mind! Traditional Indian silhouettes were revamped using western pieces – the collection opened with a red embroidered lehenga worn with a red T-shirt with words printed ‘Love & Devotion’. There were multiple references to the expansive Indian culture. The most heart-touching one was – Hands and feet were stained with alta (a red dye worn by women for festivities and weddings). Intricate embroidery and embellishments on bright fabrics look like they are right out of a wedding baraat. Models wore golden mukuts (tiaras) and some had their faces painted blue like Goddes Kali. Gajra-laden braids, heavy payals, glass bangles, traditional Indian jewelry including nose rings and maang teekas – these elements add depth and soul to the collection. A beautiful melody of Indian traditions and contemporary; each look drenched in desi glam.
