Titled “Une Lettre d’Amour” Clare called this collection a love letter to Hubert de Givenchy. And like every love letter, this collection had poetry, romance and a timelessness that is also key to Givenchy’s energy. Clare went deep in the brand heritage and archives this season. Another influence in this collection was the Sissinghurst House and its gorgeous gardens. Clare also was thinking about the love letters between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West.

Most looks featured sweeping voluminous silhouettes with the right balance between subtle and statement. In a sea of luxurious black and white there were some gorgeous bursts of colors. A look that ties the whole collection in a statement blue reminiscent of a blue orchid. There were exaggerated ruffles and 3D florals along with mega belts on some immaculate tailoring. There were some canopy-like dramatic umbrella hats adding couture to this dreamy collection. Ruffles represent flower petals, intricate embroidery reflects tiny filler flowers and the movement of each dress reminds one of the flowers in a breeze. And then Kaia Gerber closed the show in a spectacular floral lace bridal look. Clare Waight Keller gets it! A collection that captures Givenchy’s essence flawlessly.
