Some Victorian Goth Magic: Alexander McQueen Spring 2019

by brownfashionagal

Delicate fabrics, resolute silhouettes and dainty details are the defining elements in the collection by Sarah Burton. Burton spoke about this to Vogue “about sisterhood, about women’s milestones and rituals: birth, christenings, weddings, funerals. It’s about being strong and emotional, but also saying it’s okay to show your vulnerability; not to have to put a brave face on it”. Deeply romantic and irrationally strong clothes take charge of the narrative here, complemented with the usual McQueen tailoring and construction. Romantic ruffled dresses, chainmail decorated suits, asymmetrical jackets and embroidered lace dresses were some standout items here. Victorian gothic styling was brought to life with couture-like creations, this collection was a masterpiece.
