When I saw this collection Virginie was new to Chanel, this collection gave me hope that I carried on for seasons. I saw a glimmer of potential and newness here; that has been positively lost in every other lineup to this day. Viard is clearly focused on more timeless and wearable clothes but I do miss Karl’s lavish Chanel. Clothes reflected the unmatched mastery of the Chanel artists. Ombre chiffon dresses, all-white satin outfits, wide cut pants were some standout items in this collection. Interesting takes on the Chanel suits ranged from color-blocked to sheer gold to tie-dye. There is a satisfying amount of gold, lace & pearls. Every collection post this one has been simply forgettable and disappointing. Well, at least we got one decent collection from Virginie Viard.
