Social media staple slogans were pasted across romantic scrumptious tulle gowns. Explicitly expressive, rainbow-like colors and super dramatic silhouettes. This is one way to make couture relevant, with looks that instantly hit home this was relatability explored via new mediums. This was one of those truly viral collections, it was on everyone’s stories. It was called ‘Fashion Statements’ and it gave us Fashion Statements indeed. But the irony was very much there; ‘Less is more’ splashed across the most extravagant gown or ‘No photos please’ on the very first gown on the runway. A commentary on social media and its dual sided self-indulgent reality; this is exemplified by statements like “I’m Not Shy I Just Don’t Like You” and “Sorry I’m Late I Didn’t Want To Come”. Be it a ‘F this I’m going to Paris’, ‘Whatever’ or ‘No photos please’ it was all very loveable. We’ll stick to graphic t-shirts for now but it was quite fun to watch. Clever and memeworthy and thoughtful.
