This was Dries Van Noten’s 50th show and he celebrated it with emotion, excitement and extravagance. A fancy dinner for 500 somewhere in Paris. It was right out of a movie, A long long table set under luxurious crystal chandeliers(130 of them). The attention to detail in this show was remarkable, everything was synchronized to perfection. Somehow this show is quintessential Dries yet is a bit paradoxical. I’m always here for a fancy dinner though when this show took place I was a 7 seven-year-old sitting halfway across the world. That is the expanse of fashion.

After the main course the fashion show began, the chandeliers lifted up and a model walked the dinner table in an all-white cotton look. The collection continued with a plethora of white looks representing almost a breezy fresh start in respect to the 50th collection milestone. A collection quite freeing and tropical, true to its description Spring-Summer. Floral prints, silk jacquards, Crewel embroidery, linen, beading were some notable elements in this collection. The models wore delicate headpieces again quietly elevating the look. A collection curated to perfection; printed cotton dresses, white shirts, voluminous striped skirts among many Dries signatures. The show showcased off the Dries’s exceptional strengths in the grandest way possible. The sense of comfort and elegance that each look was drenched in is rare to find.

At the end all the guests received a book documenting his 50 collections, the book contained a polaroid of the chandelier in front of your seat. This is the level of personal touch he provides which is even more greatly represented in his body of work.
