Ultra-glam minimalistic meaningful clothes was all Phoebe Philo’s Celine about. With this collection, The Celine woman was given a more slouchier and slinker appeal. One of the more distinctive collections by Phoebe Philo for Celine.
Relaxed femininity was the strong force here. A twisted fabric motif was persistent in all tops complimented by luxurious satins was simply stunning. Liquid silks draped to perfection was the clear standout and while the shapes and silhouettes were not explicitly feminine it was the fabrics and the movement of the clothes that spoke for it. Mesh paneled dresses were seen with minor variations were seen that oozed a longing subtle sexuality. Undone hems gave the clothes a raw elegance while making sure not to overpower the look.
The shoes were clearly on the funkier side; Fur footwear was intriguing enough and the trompe l’oiel toes peeking out of fur-lined slides were the cherry on top. A pair of yellow fur stilettos was a Celine piece I didn’t know I needed. Layered clutches with a rolled top were a handbag hit.
“Togetherness, beauty, friendship, and a journey.” is how Philo defined this collection; While those points are rather usually associated with womanhood and femininity Philo brings them to life in a way we can not really process. Though one can’t call this a conventionally timeless collection it does project a sense of relatability and nostalgia. Something about its simplicity speaks to me. A classic Celine collection but somehow in an anti-Philo way and I am always here for a little bit of fashion paradox.
