Probably one of the most aesthetically beautiful shows ever: it took place at the lavender fields in the south of France with a bright pink carpet runway. With a clear style over substance approach, SPJ took to a more climactic approach, which can be excused considering it was his tenth-anniversary show. Jacquemus surely knows how to leverage social media because at the time I saw nothing but pictures of lavender fields for a week which is basically a decade in social media.

“I wanted a place that looked like a postcard — almost too much like a postcard, even. It was important to me to turn that cliché into something artistic, with that pink line running through the middle like a contemporary art installation by Christo, or a painting by David Hockney,” he talks to WWD.

Sun, lavender dreams, pastels, joy, love, hopes, and whatnot; the world of Jacquemus sure is dreamy. Titled “Le Coup De Soleil,” which translates to The Sunburn turned out to be a cohesive collection that celebrated the 10 wonderful years of SPJ.

The styling in this show was effortless but effective; sheer slips over suits, shirts over sweaters, nonchalant layering and jumbled up silhouettes. Tailoring took a backseat here but we got some relaxed blazers and suits. From long flowy dresses to tiny slinky dresses, big blazers to shortest shorts it had it all, and maybe that’s why nothing really stuck. His exploration with prints resulted in 35 sunny vibrant ones. Big colorful straw hats, contrasting sizes of bags, necklace version of the Chiquito bag, strappy sandals come together and get us summer dreaming.

Though this collection wasn’t a fashion moment it was a moment in fashion. Jacquemus radiates happiness and optimism and we could always use a bit of that.
