There is a drastic acceleration in boldness, confidence, and ‘fashion’. The whole collection is a swarm of colors with each more exciting than the previous one. CJR seems to have found his sweet spot early and has already established a sense of aesthetic and impact.
Comprised of dazzling colors, voluminous silhouettes, crinkled textures, sparkling fabrics; Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 was a defining fashion moment. Trash bags was one of the inspirations of this glorious collection along with Madame Grès, pink and orange carryout bags, and monochromatic church wear. The set design by Sauras + Garriga was old-school glam meets cozy comfort, an absolute beauty.
CJR’s extravagant silhouettes included exaggerated sleeves, cinched waists, dramatic skirts, big shoulders, and ruffled collars. The colors in this collection, Magnificent. Orange, yellow, olive, neon, violet, fuchsia, red, maroons, pink; all of them on acid times a hundred. We saw promising tailoring in some gleaming suits and some intense monochromatic color-blocked suits in shades of yellow and red. Each look here was better than the next, among these came a big blazing brilliant teal gown. Every element blends seamlessly throughout, the light, the music, the colors, the shine, the drama, and the love.
And out comes Rogers dancing and giving us the grand exit we needed and he deserved. This collection will forever have a place in my heart, something about it connects very deeply within. He transported us to a never-ending euphoria.
