The Gucci Fall 2015 collection, the first under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele. A brazen approach to a nostalgic fantasy; played with soft romanticism and androgyny.

The opening look was a nude sheer top, a red leather pleated midi skirt, a GG logo belt, and fur detailed flats; a defining look for sure. Comforting yet refined tailoring gave us slouchy pants and suits. A nude sheer dress with a deep neckline was all sorts of sexy, along with a mini black dress with a flower detail above the chest. Floral airy chiffon dresses were a summer dream reverie. Big fur coat with pink-red chevron stripes was all glam and drama, fur trims were also present in some more conventional military coats. Pussy-bow blouses, berets, oversized glasses, sheer lingerie-Esque tops, floral suits, pleated skirts,fur-lined loafers were just some highlights of this remarkable collection. The concealed sexuality within the clothes is exceptional and also quite significant.

“Sensuality is something that is inside of you,” explained the designer to Nowfashion when asked about the androgynous aspect of his work. “Because there are a lot of really beautiful girls that can look like a man and also men look like a woman. It’s the story of the world. It is the life.”

It took a while to understand and be a part of his vision but upon reflection, well it sure is something. Drenched in the ’70s, romanticism, and androgyny; this collection represented a promising new direction for Gucci and now after almost 7 years it has proven to be quite true. He gave Gucci an identity and concept that helped thrive the brand. His signatures are often gender-challenging, eccentric, original, and somehow poetic. The way he plays with maximalism is truly a dream. Michele’s Every look, every girl has a distinct personality and aura; and we are here for that.
