Gucci said Fashion.

It’s going to take a while to get over this collection, a surprisingly brilliant collaboration Alessandro Michele’s Gucci and Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga. With a nod to the past, fantasyland energy and wonderfully genius looks make this collection is a landmark for Gucci. This Fall 2021 just might be one of the best Gucci collections ever.

With absolutely magnificent and much-needed references to past creative directors; red velvet suit by Tom Ford, Frida Giannini’s fur trims, Bamboo bags, and the iconic flora print. Signature Balenciaga silhouettes what dominant throughout the collection and the rest was all Gucci; Gucci print on Balenciaga sock boots, Gucci monogram on the hourglass bag, big shoulders, and just the extra omnipresent energy. The perfect amalgamation of the monogram and logo was horrifying and absolutely genius; the sheer brazenness and satire is what made it a must-have. We saw leather harnesses, lace, fur bedazzled anatomical correct heart-shaped bags, whips, power suits, Savoy club hats, major horse elements, and dangly crystal nose septum rings.

This collection has something for everyone it was bold, elegant, tacky, sexy, ultra-sexy, nostalgic, futuristic, extra, badass, and more.

The set in the collection needs a special mention, I almost had a seizure not because of the super flashy lights but simply because of how amazed I was. And the Gucci garden? It is what dreams are made of, a place so magical and fantastical it is unreal to even look at it.

When I first read the headline Gucci-Balenciaga collab I was horrified at best but trust me now I am here for ‘Gucciaga’. While the collection served us with major fashion movements it also brought to light the power of collaboration or as Gucci likes to call it ‘hacking’. This just might be a preview of what we might see a lot of.

Gucci also acknowledged its role in pop culture and created a soundtrack with hip-hop songs that mentioned the brand, Though it didn’t really compliment the collection and I could have done without it but the sentiment was important and showed the bigger picture. Undeniably Gucci has played a strong role in Hip hop music also simply as an adjective. The way Michele leveraged the power of everything in this collection is remarkable, it gave fashion people everything they needed and deserved.

Michele did just solidify his place in the Gucci world forever and we learned he surely knows how to celebrate. There couldn’t have been a more dramatic and glamorous way to celebrate 100 years of this iconic brand.
