Every time I see this collection I find myself with all my art supplies and some contentious results. We often hear the phrase that models look like fashion sketches and here fashion illustrations were literally brought to life. What looked like sketch pen scribblings were present throughout the collection.
The show started with white dresses and suits sketched with vivid colors paired with matching hats bags and shoes. Moving on to some more detailed looks involved a variety of prints. A red suit with black lapels and coordinated accessories was quite splendid that was also sported by Alia Bhatt a while ago. A lot of 80s signatures like poofy hats, flat hats, and bold colors paired with a trendy Barbie aesthetic. Out of all the quirk and frenzy, the most memorable item for me was the black stockings. An accessible yet standout item with Moschino drawn all over it, Dresses with fabric roll attached to them were slightly infantile but an explicit Behind-the-scenes example. A giant measuring tape worn as a scarf was marvelous while giving off fairly Schiaparelli vibes. A collection deeply rooted in reality as well as fantasy. A quite theatrical finale, Gigi Hadid in a mini poofy wedding dress with a swarm of butterflies following her. A little bit of drama is always fun and with Moschino it is mandatory.
A Jeremy Scott masterpiece this collection was as impressive as it could be juvenile. But it’s that what Moschino is all about. The sheer satire of the sketching had enough sincerity to humor us and still be brilliant. In the end Jeremy Scott did pull it together.
