True Office fans would know the meaning behind the title and now that I think of it Kelly Kapoor would rock these looks. Intense 90s vibes and wonderful accessories came together for Daniel Lee’s Spring 2021. A physical show over a virtual one along with the fact that Bottega Veneta deleted all its social media presence reflects a determined and delightful strength.
Deeply entrenched in the roots of minimalism the show hinted at signs of a laidback sex appeal. Lee’s color palette seems to be getting bolder with each season and thank god for that. Bright greens, deep teals, rich browns, and subtle greys among some beautiful pastels were shuffled throughout the collection. A lot of knitwear was seen, in which a chunky knitted dress with matching bags was charming. In the mix, there were a few repulsive looks made up of repetitive disappointments of his previous collection but somehow he makes up for it. I don’t always love his clothes as such but the direction he was taken the brand to was desperately necessary. A red-blue textured suit set with a coordinated bag was quite bizarre and I loved it. The collection was brought together by the usual highlight of Lee’s Bottega: Accessories. Triangle-handle knitted bags, chunky jewelry, strappy sandals, and platform mules were some of Bottega’s best. With some bold outerwear and intricate knits combined with the usual stunning footwear, this collection was quite a show.
Lee said to Vogue “I’m always interested in this idea, of how you can feel done up and elegant at the same time as feeling comfortable. That’s really my kind of mission for Bottega.” And isn’t that what Bottega stands for? Silent Luxury.
