This is definitely my favorite Prada collection ever and Yes I say that for almost every Prada collection. But this is a Miuccia Prada masterpiece.
The collection started off with an impeccably tailored suit in olive in an impossible to figure out fabric that turned out to be a double-faced jersey. That fabric was the highlight of the show, it was foamy, futuristic, and somehow very girly. Then the same look followed in different colors and combinations. There was also a stunning bright blue skirt suit and a beautiful pastel pink coat which had very Jackie Kennedy vibes. This more surreal material was balanced by good old tweed, there were suits and coats in Tweed with strips of fur that elevated the look with the usual Prada whimsy. There was a very interesting graphic print of animated bubbles/molecular material. different was seen throughout the collection, on dresses, on panels for the tweed dresses, and in a leathery/PVC fabric. There were cutesy babydoll dresses in all variations possible, one that stood out was an emerald green leather dress worn on top of a sky blue t-shirt, classic Prada energy. The bags in this collection were quite nice but totally undermined by the stunning shoes. Initially heeled Mary Janes was seen in a two-toned style later followed by a fancier version in satin with silver buckles. There was a flower cutout brooch paired with most of the looks which was another quirk by Mrs. Prada. The show closed with a pastel pink suit which was simply dreamy.
With typical Girly elements like pastel colors, flower brooches, cute ponytails this collection was far from actually ‘girly’. As Tim Blanks said in his Vogue coverage, it was drenched in irony. This collection was basically eating a pretty pink cake covered in flowers and bows but it’s actually salty. And trust me I mean that in the best way possible. Mrs. Prada, We stan.
