Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino has truly raised the bar for Haute Couture. He can do the most vivid and colorful collections and also an all-white collection with equal beauty and fantasy. This is one of my favorite shows of recent times and definitely a Valentino classic. With a swarm of bold yet seamlessly merging colors, flowing feathers, intricate details, and a lot of ruffles the collection was a reflection of how strong and magical Piccioli’s work is. Every look was a true representation of what Haute Couture is yet had a distinct sense of comfort to it. A celebration of diversity and beauty, it was clear how a look was carefully curated for each model.

“You don’t invent color,” said Piccioli, “but you can invent new harmonies for color.” And his inventions turned out to be a symphony of beauty and grandeur. With Adut Akech opening the show is a brilliant pink-coral gown and to close the show came runway goddess Naomi Campbell in a sheer black ruffled gown. The collection was filled with vivid colors mixed together and some exquisite floral prints. The beauty looks in this collection were stunning with the highlight being the feather eyelashes among floral face paint and crystals done by Pat McGrath. A classic example for modern day couture even though PPP says “Couture has to be couture, but you can look it at in a different way. Which each fold, with each slit and with each feather that beautifully replaced the model’s eyelashes, the artful craftsmanship details were present everywhere.

The collection redefined florals with a traditional twist, most of the collection in florals and the rest in bursts of bright colors. A collection to be remembered in the Couture world for a long long time.
