Undoubtedly one of the most iconic Chanel shows to date. I am still confused if Lagerfeld was appreciating or mocking consumerism. But it is not the easiest thing to decipher him so I am not even going to try and just admire his genius. Every detail in the show was well thought and executed. Be it the Chanel branded canned goods or the Chanel trolley bags. Lagerfeld has always had extravagant and unrealistically creative set designs but this one was unforgettable. The collection featured democratic women as Tim Blanks rightfully put it, just how in a normal supermarket you would see women of all backgrounds. With sporty chic to high French, this show had it all. Which women wearing ripped workout clothes to leather trenches and Couture like dresses this show had it all. Somehow it is one of the most unattainable and wearable collections. The collection began with Cara Delevingne in a pink sporty rugged look and ended with a pink dress made flower-petal applique, Karl represented real women in the most Chanel way ever.
A relatively sportier collection starting with sneakers and rugged workout looks. We saw a lot of hourglass structure, knee-high lace-up sneakers, and the most sportiest Chanel suits yet. The bags in the show were pure genius be it the shopping basket bags, lait de Coco bag, or the plastic-wrapped Chanel bag(which literally might be the most creative bags ever). A rusty orange hourglass jumpsuit stole my heart along with a red-orange off-shoulder fuzzy dress. With a collection so extravagant and real at the same time, it was easy for it to look corny and try-hard but the meticulous details and the planning is what made it so memorable. With each product from detergent to corn flakes everything was Chanel approved.
The most wonderful part of the show was the finale when all the girls were simply shopping in the supermarket, each effortlessly portraying the kind of woman she is wearing. I mean this is the only supermarket that I ever want to shop at.
