The genius of reinvention: Bottega Veneta by Daniel Lee

I didn’t really care for Bottega Veneta until Fall 2019. Yes, that was Daniel Lee’s first collection for Bottega. I didn’t know what I expected from Lee but he certainly exceeded my subconscious expectations.

My attraction towards his work reached new heights when I discovered the Instagram account @newbottega, an account is solely dedicated to Bottega Veneta by Daniel Lee which has had a significant role in popularizing the brand . Bottega is no longer a ‘boring old Italian Luxury brand’, it is quite hip. With some wildly successful bags and shoes and some beautiful clothes, he is a favorite among all. His sublime work with leather, ability to create not only trendy but good pieces, and refreshing color palette. Lee brought in the perfect amount of trend and youth that makes Bottega more in touch with the current scenario but does not compromise the heritage and the legacy of the brand. . I wasn’t sure about the clothes initially, it felt a little forced and overly styled clothes. But his unusual sequined dresses, fringe overload, asymmetrical knitwear among others have grown on me. He certainly does accessories masterfully the Pouch, Cassette, Arco, and the Holy Grail The sponge bag. And the shoes? The Lido sandals, the Tire boots and those Stretch sandals, Oh so sexy!

His easygoing clothes drenched in sexuality and minimalism have been wonderful for the brand and proves he was blessed little bit of Old Celine magic. His work gets better with each season not only he raised the brand to new heights but has established himself prominently in the fashion world.

“It is glamorous, but in a very Bottega Veneta way. There is an ease to the sophistication because it is natural” Tomas Maier. That is exactly the luxury I like, one that stands out not because it has a logo splattered all over it but because it is recognizable without it. And isn’t that the essence of Bottega?
